About Tsumugu

Kimono is one of the traditional cultures of Japan. It has been used to dress people in gorgeous ways at important milestones in their lives, such as Shichigosan, coming-of-age ceremonies, and weddings. The obi, with its auspicious patterns of flowers of the four seasons, clear streams of water, fans, tortoiseshells, and noshi-me, and bright gold and silver threads, is made up of the thoughts of people wishing for happiness. Click here for more information about kimono patterns.
Obi Bag Studio Tsumugu upcycles Japanese obis that are rarely worn into fashionable bags that can be used in both Western and Japanese clothing, rather than putting them away in the wardrobe. By reviving obis, we want to keep them with you and allow anyone to experience the beauty of Japanese kimonos on a daily basis. Obi bags will weave new memories in your hands.
Each piece is handmade, a one-of-a-kind original work of art.
